Harry Craddock's Leap Year Cocktail

It's not that often that a drink has a definitive origin, let alone a birthday, but the Leap Year Cocktail does—as this was created by Harry Craddock on 29th February 1928.

Leap Year Cocktail

40ml Gin
10ml Italian Vermouth
10ml Grand Marnier
1 Dash of Lemon Juice
SHAKE and garnish with a twist of lemon



The Taste
A clean and quite crisp cocktail with a slight confectionery element reminiscent of fruit jellies. It a bit like a citrus Martinez in some respects although the Italian Vermouth is dialled down so it is not as herbally complex but, consequentially, it is more bright and vibrant.
